1- What exactly is lighting retrofit?
The word retrofit means to install new equipment or modernize an existing structure: to upgrade.
By lighting retrofit we mean that we take out the old lamps and ballasts and we install new ones that will reduce the energy consumption.
2- If we use less energy will I have less light?
Absolutely not! As a matter of fact you will gain more light. The brightness and color of the light is not determined by the amount of energy. You will be able to choose the color of your new lights and how bright you want them to be.
3- What do I benefit by doing the retrofit?
First and foremost you gain a tremendous reduction in energy consumption that will effect the amount of money you pay on your electricity bill. You also gain new lamps and ballast installed in your facility with warranty for several years. That will increase the value of your property and these factors are translated to thousands of dollars in savings every year. Last but not least, you will be part of a global effort to reduce energy consumption and help to make the environment a better place.
3- How can you assure I will save energy and money?
That’s easy, we are dealing with volts, wattage and energy and these things can be measured easily. It is very similar to measuring weight actually. We could say for example that we replace your 100lbs with 50lbs and you will save 50lbs. In our case, If you are using a 100watts bulb and we replace it with 50watts bulb it will reduce your energy consumption by half. The utility company meter measures how much energy you use and by reducing the volts and wattage you will definitely reduce the amount of energy.
4- What type of lamps and ballast will you use?
We are obligated to use the CEE rated list of products (Consortium for Energy Efficiency) provided by the utility company. All the products in the list were tested for quality and efficiency and were approved by the CEE corporation with the help of the THE U.S. Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Agency.
5- Does the utility company get involve with the retrofit?
Yes they are! Every step of the process will be followed by the utility company’s inspector. The inspector will check your facility and examine our calculations of your savings. The project will have to be approved by the utility company and this will assure you that your savings are guaranteed, other wise it would not be approved.
8- How long does the installation takes?
That will depend on the size of your facility and the amount of fixtures you have. Most of our projects are completed within 1 week to 10 days. Our company is very flexible when it comes to time tables and schedule and we can work whenever our clients allow us to.
9- What is the first step I need to do if I want to retrofit my lighting?
The first step would be to perform an assessment in your facility. We will have to count and check what kind of lamps and ballast you currently have. After the assessment is done we will present our calculations and appraisal for you facility.
